Mt. Ararat Trek
For thousands of years, mountains have captured the human imagination as places of wonder, revelation, and spiritual significance.
Few mountains carry the historical and cultural weight of Mount Ararat, the majestic volcanic peak that dominates eastern Turkey and has long been associated with the biblical story of Noah's Ark.
This Solejourn Trek combines the rich history and vibrant culture of Turkey with the challenge and accomplishment of standing atop one of the world's most iconic mountains.
This is where history, faith, and adventure meet.

12-Day Trek Itinerary
We'll begin in Istanbul, exploring the crossroads of Europe and Asia, where empires rose and fell and where ancient churches, mosques, palaces, and markets tell the story of civilizations spanning millennia. From there, we'll journey east to the shadow of Mount Ararat, where a carefully paced multi-day ascent allows us to experience the mountain's dramatic landscapes while acclimatizing for a successful summit attempt. Along the way, we'll share meals, stories, and the unique camaraderie that develops when people pursue meaningful challenges together.
This is a journey for travelers who appreciate both cultural discovery and physical adventure—a chance to explore extraordinary places, learn the stories that shaped them, and experience the satisfaction that comes from doing something truly memorable.

What to expect
Physical Challenge
Mount Ararat is a demanding trek that requires good fitness and preparation, but it does not require technical mountaineering experience.
The ascent follows established routes with support from licensed mountain guides. Summit day includes glacier travel using crampons, but the terrain is generally moderate rather than steep or technical. The primary challenge is altitude, and our itinerary is designed to allow for gradual acclimatization before the summit attempt.
Travelers should be comfortable hiking for multiple consecutive days and prepared for long days on the mountain. Detailed gear recommendations and training guidance will be provided well in advance of departure.
Safety
Turkey is a popular destination for international travelers and offers an incredible blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. As with any international destination, travelers should exercise normal precautions and remain aware of their surroundings.
During the Mount Ararat portion of the journey, we will be accompanied by government-licensed mountain guides who are experienced in leading summit expeditions. The most significant mountain-related risk is altitude sickness, which is managed through acclimatization, guide oversight, and a flexible approach that prioritizes participant safety.
