SOLE•JOURN
A synaptic journey of sole and soul that results in new, electric ways of thinking and being in the world. Requiring gumption, stout walking shoes, and a leap of faith. “Let’s take a Solejourn”
Why travel with Solejourn?
A Solejourn is more than just a trip—it’s a shared experience shaped by those who embark on it together. No two Solejourns are the same, and that’s what makes them extraordinary. Even experienced travelers who have explored the world on their own are often surprised by how much the group dynamic enhances the journey. There's something special about experiencing a new place with others who bring fresh perspectives, insights, and enthusiasm. We have found that travel memories last longer and feel richer when they’re shared.
Who would enjoy a Solejourn?
Solejourn is designed for travelers of all backgrounds, whether you're stepping outside your comfort zone for the first time or you have a well-worn passport.
Travel Newbies: If you haven’t traveled extensively on your own, a Solejourn is the perfect way to see the world with the support of an experienced guide and like-minded travelers. No logistics to stress over—just enjoy the adventure.
Experienced Travelers: Even if you’ve been everywhere, you haven’t been there like this. Our thoughtfully curated itineraries and built-in camaraderie create an entirely different kind of travel experience.
Families: Dreaming of taking your family abroad but overwhelmed by the planning? We handle the details so you can focus on making memories. Travel is one of the greatest gifts you can give your kids—it’s education, adventure, and quality time, all in one.
Singles: Whether you’re traveling solo or with a friend, Solejourn is an amazing way to meet people. Many of our travelers form lifelong friendships on these trips.
Darren Wilkins puts the sole (and soul!) in Solejourn.
Since his first taste of international travel when studying abroad in France as a college student, Darren has put many miles on his walking shoes exploring ancient cities, back roads, and tall mountains around the globe.
As a history teacher Darren helped the past come alive for his students by taking them on adventures to places of historical significance. Through these trips Darren discovered a passion for sharing the experience of travel with others.
What can I expect?
We’re proud to have a high number of repeat travelers—some who aim to take every Solejourn we offer and others who have already “collected them all” and keep coming back for more. Whether you’re traveling as a family, with a friend, or on your own, you’ll quickly find yourself part of a close-knit group.
Solejourn started as a way for Darren to bring friends and family together for meaningful travel. Now, that circle has expanded—but once you’ve traveled with us, you’re part of it.
One thing that remains the same across every trip?
Walking.
Expect to cover anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 steps per day as we explore on foot, taking in the sights, sounds, and energy of each destination.
If you love being active and fully immersed in your surroundings, this is the trip for you.
Ready to experience the world in a whole new way?
Our team
The Solejourn team is with you every step of the way—from the beginning of the booking process to waving goodbye to you at the airport at the end of your adventure.
